This very rare and beautifully restored 1938 Arvin 'Rhythm Junior' tabletop radio is ready for purchase and shipping or local pick up in Redwood City, CA.
The Arvin name (a brand of Noblitt-Sparks Industries) was well known for quality products. The 517C is an AC operated five tube AM Broadcast and Shortwave band receiver. The beautiful multicolored 6 inch dial has lights that follow the tuning pointer.
We went through the radio replacing all of the capacitors, checked and replaced resistors and tubes where needed. We performed a full alignment and reinforced the 6 inch speaker so it will last for many years more. We also retrofitted this radio with a Bluetooth input and receiver so you can switch back and forth between listening to the radio or your favorite streaming music.
The cabinet was completely stripped and refinished. It is covered in rich-grained walnut with combinations of mahogany and satin wood. We added dark ebony toner to the side piping to enhance its late 30's design. A flat matte lacquer finish was added to enhance the wood grain.
These radios are always hard to find, and this is a wonderful example of an iconic Art Deco design that you'll want in your collection.
14"H x 13"W x 10"D.
