This model year 1940 Zenith eight tube radio is, one of Zenith’s most famous and collectible consoles. It is sporting the fabulous ‘Black Dial’ and green tuning eye. The large airplane dial pointer is in exceptional shape. The cabinets’ walnut veneer is beautifully stripped and refinished with a matt lacquer finish and toned lacquer color trim. This art deco style radio will look good in any room.
The knobs are modern reproductions of the original Zenith knobs and will last for years. The superhetrodyne chassis is a great performer and plays full dial scale, loud and clear. The 10-inch speaker gives great treble, mid-range and exceptional bass response. A new power cord and power resistor and solid-state rectifier was installed for safety.
This radio also comes with a rechargeable Bluetooth receiver and custom made adapter so you can stream audio to the radio from your smartphone or smart device. The adapter’s 3/8” input jack also allows you connect your iPod or other mp3 audio source. You can easily switch between listening to the radio or your favorite music streamed from your smart device.
The radio has had a complete electronic restoration - all the capacitors were replaced with new ones and any out of tolerance resistors were replaced as well. The dial belt and dial cord are brand new for exceptionally smooth tuning operation. The chassis is clean and rust fee. The radio has genuinely nice reception with no hum. A brand-new NOS green eye tube was installed to dress up its playing appearance. This model comes with Zenith’s famous ‘Wave Magnet’ antenna which brings in distant stations even when the radio is placed on an inside wall. Like most old tube radios shortwave reception is best done using a long wire.
